Black Queens captain Elizabeth Addo blasts Ghana FA over birthday snubs

Published on: 14 June 2021

Black Queens captain Elizabeth Addo has vented her spleen at the Ghana Football Association for their neglect of birthdays of female footballers.

The Djugardens IF midfielder reacted to the FA's celebration of Black Stars and Arsenal player Thomas Partey's birthday on June 13, 2021, by asking why same is not done for women football players and coaches.

"Why can't female players and coaches be celebrated as well?," she quizzed. "We are all serving the same Ghana as the male players and coaches," she added.

In June 2021, no female footballer has been celebrated yet by the FA although Gifty Ayew Asare and legend Alberta Sackey had their birthdays on 9th and 11th respectively.

Meanwhile, the FA President Kurt Okraku, Dreams FC defender Philemon Baffuor and Thomas Partey have all had their birthdays observed.

Another June celebrant missed by the FA is former Ghana forward Tony Yeboah, who was celebrated by Leeds United and the Premier League on June 6.
