Black Starlets coach working hard to raise a 'formidable' squad for WAFU Cup

Black Starlets coach Ben Fokuo has said that he with support from the technical team are working very hard to raise a formidable squad for the 2020 Wafu Cup Cup of Nations in Benin.

The coach has invited 40 U-17 players to start camping for the tournament. The camping is set to commence on Tuesday, with the players training for a month.

He is expected to reduced the number of players after accessing them and he has assured Ghanaians of selecting the best.

"This is not league matches it’s a national assignment so we need to prepare well so that no team will surprise us at the tournament," he said.

"The materials I have now, despite having a short period to train, I’m assuring all Ghanaians that we will excel. They should support us because we won’t disgrace them.

We are working very hard to make sure that we have a formidable team to represent the nation and I think that the boys will also raise their game and bring glory [U-17] back."

Despite the ban on football due to coronavirus pandemic, the Starlets have been allowed by the government which gets under on October 17.

The tournament serve as qualifiers for the 2021 Africa U17 Cup of Nations in Morocco,
