The Ghana Football Association has reached a deal with Serbian coach Goran Stevanovic to become the new Black Stars boss, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

A meeting between the Ghana FA and the former Partizan Belgrade coach  took place at the secretariat in Accra on Monday afternoon.

Details remain sketchy but sources say Stevanovic has agreed an initial two-year contract with a view of an extension if he impresses.

He will be unveiled at a press conference on Wednesday.

"The Ghana Football Association have appointed a new coach for the Black Stars. He is in the person of Goran Stevanovic," a GFA statement read.

"We have successfully negotiated with the coach and he would replace his compatriot, Milovan Rajevac.

"The coach will be presented to the public at a press conference at the GFA on Wednesday, 12 January 2011 at 10:00am," an FA statement read.

Stevanovic will take over from his compatriot Milovan Rajevac who resigned after taking Ghana to the brink of a semi-final place at last year’s world cup in South Africa .

His first competitive game in charge will be at next month's international friendly against a yet-be-named opponent before a trip to Brazzaville to play Congo in a 2012 Africa Cup of Nations Cup qualifier if a deal is reached.
