BW Linz star Raphael Dwamena returns to Austria Lustenau with an implanted defibrillator

Ghana forward Raphael Dwamena is making a return to where it all began for him professionally, but this time with a different club and an implanted defibrillator.

The 26-year-old travels returns to Austria Lustenau with BW Linz ahead of their Eertse Liga game on Friday night.

Dwamena had a successful stint with Lustena, helping them win the championship after bagging 18 goals from 20 matches.

His career seem to have catapulted for greatness when he left Lustenau to join FC Zurich in Switzerland.

The goal poacher made a mark in the Swiss league, which was enough to attract English Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion.

However, the beginning of a tough path started when the move fell through due to a heart problem.

Despite that Spanish outfit Levante broke the bank to sign the lanky forward.

A tough first season in La Liga saw him sent on loan to Real Zaragoza, where he seemed to have rediscovered his form but again midway through the season the problem was detected again.

He left Spain for Denmark to play for Velje Boldklub and just as he was storming his way back to the game, another diagnosis showed he still had a heart problem.

That will not stop the determined Dwamena, who signed for Linz in the summer transfer window. He made his debut on October 3, 2021.

"My star has rose in Lustenau," he said ahead of the return to Lustenau.

He is expected to start for BW Linz on Friday night.
