Cedar Stars recorded an impressive win in the 2023/2024 season of the Greater Accra Regional FA Division Two League with a resounding 3-0 victory away at Prestige FC.
The St. Thomas Aquinas Park witnessed a masterclass in attacking football from the young Capelli Boys, who dominated the entire match.
From the opening whistle, our boys displayed exceptional focus and tactical awareness. Crisp passing sequences and a strong midfield presence allowed us to control the tempo of the game. The attacking duo of Bright Awitor and Salifu Abdulai proved to be a constant threat to the Prestige FC defense.
The breakthrough came in the 34th minute when Raphael Anaba unleashed a perfectly weighted through ball, finding Awitor in a dangerous position. Awitor made no mistake, calmly slotting the ball into the net to put the Stars in front.
Propped up by the goal, the Forever Green Lads continued to press forward. Just before halftime, Salifu Abdulai was brought down in the penalty area, earning a spot-kick for us. Awitor stepped up with confidence and confidently converted from the penalty spot, doubling our lead and sending us into the break with a comfortable advantage.
The second half saw no change in momentum. We emerged from the tunnel with renewed determination and further extended our lead within three minutes of the restart. Salifu Abdulai, displaying his remarkable technical ability, chipped the ball beautifully over the Prestige FC goalkeeper to make it 3-0.
Prestige FC fought valiantly throughout the match, but our resolute defense and organized midfield play effectively thwarted their attacks. The final whistle blew with the scoreline remaining unchanged, securing a dominant victory for us.
