Budding Celta Vigo defender José Fontan has lambasted his teammates for the sacking of coach Oscar Garcia.

Oscar was sacked and replaced by Eduardo Coudet last week following a series of bad results.

It appears some of the players are looking over their shoulders after Garcia’s expected exit.

Fontan, who was promoted to the first team this season by the departed tactician, has hit out at his teammates, claiming they are to be blamed for the decision to relieve the coach off his duty.

"The results end up marking the coach being the victim, but the fault lies with the players, both when it goes well and when it goes bad. We are the ones who have to pull the car,” he told Marca.

"A coach can give you guidelines and tell you how to play, but we are the ones who have to perform out there. The coaches are not the ones who play."

Ghana defender Joseph Aidoo was signed by Oscar Garcia from Belgian side KRC Genk in 2019.

The 25-year-old established himself as a starter under the departed coach last term, making 29 appearances in all competitions.

Aidoo has however not enjoyed much continuity this term due to injuries and Coronavirus.
