Ghana winger Christian Atsu provided an assist as Newcastle United U23 defeated Crystal Palace 2-0 in the Premier League 2.

Atsu who was very much involved in the game, having come close twice, made it count by laying a clever pass to Adam Wilson to break the deadlock in the 44th minute.

Kyle Crossley doubled the Magpies lead with twenty minutes left.

Christian Atsu has struggled to break into Steve Bruce's first team this season, having been initially omitted from the Premier League squad.

The 29-year-old has been with the U-23's, making five appearances and netting a goal for the St James' outfit.

His contract expires at the end of the season and will be free to join any club of his choice.

The tricky winger has been linked with several clubs including Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers.

Atsu joined Newcastle United from Chelsea in 2017 and has since made 75 appearances, scoring three goals for the club.
