The Chief Executive Officer for Ghana Premier League side, Techiman Eleven Wonders, Albert Commey has called on the government to ease restrictions and allow football to restart amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Football which has been categorized under non-contact sport by the government has been suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak in the West African country since March.

According to Albert Commey, government after easing restrictions and allowing other social entities to operate by adhering to the protocols should also consider football restart if they were able to organize Parliamentary primaries as football can be organized in a proper manner.

“On Saturday, I was following the NPP primaries and I realized they threw all the protocols of the COVID-19 to the dogs. I asked myself if they didn’t anticipate if this will happen. If they did then what are they telling us the football people, he told Happy FM.

“You will even get some people who are opposing football people from benefitting from the stimulus package.

“Football really helps a lot in this country and they should leave us to play our football”, he added.

The Ghana FA is considering whether to continue or truncate the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League due to the pandemic.

The FA has announced it will make a decision on June 30 on the future of the season.

Government is also expected to review its policy on easing restrictions as part of measures to curb the coronavirus outbreak on July 31.
