Danny Drinkwater commissions his own highlights reel in the hope of securing move away from Chelsea

Chelsea outcast Danny Drinkwater has commissioned his own showreel featuring some of his finest finishes as he looks to attract interest before the January transfer window.

The £120,000-a-week midfielder was well down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge even before Frank Lampard’s summer spending spree, having fallen out of favour under Maurizio Sarri.

And Drinkwater has been completely cast aside after a £120million summer spree which saw the likes of Hakim Ziyech and Kai Havertz arrive at the club - only for his own exit to fail to materialise.

Top-tier clubs may feel nervous about making a move for Drinkwater, who has three England caps to his name.

His recent run-ins include drink-driving, headbutting team-mate Jota while on loan at Aston Villa, and he was the victim of a nightclub attack while on loan at Burnley.

But as the new season began, Drinkwater, now aged 30, revealed his desperation to play and find a new club - employing a production company to highlight his best moments on the pitch in the form of a video CV.

Whitefoot Productions, the media company in Cornwall who put together the video, have also worked with boxers including Jono Carroll and Josh Kelly and cricketers Jake Lintott and Luke Wood.

A Premier League winner from his time at Leicester, Drinkwater admitted in September he was struggling with personal problems last season. He has also been seeing a psychologist.

'I know my Chelsea move hasn't worked out how anybody would have wanted and I've made mistakes, but it's not as simple as me just not playing football or picking up a wage,' Drinkwater he told The Telegraph. 'Money doesn't solve anything. The pay cheque doesn't really help at all, you don't even think about money.'

He also posted on Instagram about looking for a new club, writing: 'Back at @chelseafc only for preseason... working hard, trying to get fit and be in the best shape I can be for wherever I go next.

'As much as I would love to be settled at a club like I should be, the unknown is kinda exciting.'

The three-minute video, featuring some of Drinkwater’s finest goals, assists and midfield work, is the latest posting on his Instagram and includes four handclap and  flame emojis.

It opens with a scorcher, too, a 25-yard strike for Leicester City against Liverpool in February 2017 at the King Power, which helped secure a 2-0 win for the Foxes.

And that one is quickly followed by another long-range thunderbolt, this time for Chelsea at Stamford Bridge against Stoke in December 2017, a game the home side won 5-0.

His last Premier League appearance for the Blues, who signed him in 2017 for a £35m fee under the management of Antonio Conte, was in March 2018 - a 1-0 defeat by Manchester City.

In all, Drinkwater has made 23 appearances for Chelsea, 12 of them in the Premier League.

This season, he has turned out twice for the Under 23s, most recently in October in a 3-1 defeat by Liverpool.
