Manchester United are reportedly willing to let Ghanaian striker Danny Welbeck remain on loan at Sunderland.

The young striker has put in strong performances since his temporary move to the Stadium of Light.

Manager Steve Bruce recently expressed the hope that he could get his United counterpart Sir Alex Ferguson "drunk on a bottle of wine" to convince him to let the forward remain on Wearside.

Now The News of the World reports that the Red Devils are ready to allow the youngster to remain at the Stadium of Light for another season.

Welbeck has made 21 league appearances for Sunderland so far this term, scoring six goals.

The striker was born to Ghanaian parents and can still play for the Black Stars despite playing for England at youth level.
