Ghana youth striker Dauda Mohamed has become the sixth Ghanaian player to join Dutch Eredivisie side Vitesse Arnheim.

Dauda signed a six-month loan deal on Thursday to beat the transfer deadline for the Eredivisie league.

The 20-yer-old moves from Belgian giants Anderlecht in search of playing time after seeing limited playing time in the Jupiler League.

Vitesse will have the option of giving the Ghanaian youngster a permanent contract at the end of the season if they are impressed with his performance.

The former Asante Kotoko hitman will be hoping to emulate the achievements of some Ghanaians to have don the shirt of the Yellow and Black lads after penning the deal.

Below are names of Ghanaians to have played for the Arnhem-based outfit.

Mustapha Riga

Born in Accra, Ghana, Mustapha began his career with Eredivisie side Vitesse as a youth and senior player. While with the Vitesse youth team, Mustapha actually worked under his future head coach at Sparta Rotterdam and Pune, Mike Snoei. He also went out on loan to RBC Roosendaal while with Vitesse. He then left Vitesse in 2003 to sign for Sparta Rotterdam in the Eerste Divisie. In his two seasons at Sparta, Mustapha scored a total of 30 goals.

Yakubu Abubakar

Born in Tema, Yakubu joined AFC Ajax at only 17, going on to remain in the Netherlands for one full decade. He made his Eredivisie debut on 19 April 2000, playing 50 minutes in a 1–1 away draw against FC Den Bosch and finishing his first season with only five matches.

Yakubu played in an average of 15 league games in the following four years, going on to make 89 competitive appearances and helping the Amsterdam side to two national championships and the 2001–02 edition of the Dutch Cup. During the 2002–03 campaign he featured in five matches in the UEFA Champions League, in a quarter-final run that ended at the hands of eventual champions A.C. Milan; he spent 2004–05 on loan to fellow league team Vitesse Arnhem.

Matthew Amoah

Born in Tema, Amoah moved to the Netherlands at the age of 16, where he linked with Vitesse Arnhem, spending eight seasons at the club.

After Amoah moved to Vitesse, he did not play regularly. So in other to get regular playing action, Amoah needed a loan spell at Fortuna Sittard to find his feet in Dutch football before going back at Arnhem where coach Ronald Koeman gave him a chance. And the move paid off as the club's supporters named him their best player after the 2002–03 season, in which he scored 15 goals for the club and also competed in European club competition. Amoah played his heart out at Vitesse where he developed into a good striker. It was his great performances at Vitesse which gained him a call up to his homeland Ghana's national team. In Vitesse he scored 62 goals in 174 appearances for the club.

Laryea Kingston

After his release from Hearts of Midlothian, Kingston moved to the Netherlands to sign for Vitesse Arnhem, but was released in December 2010 after just six months with the club.

Christian Atsu

Atsu made his debut for Vitesse against Feyenoord on On 6 October 2013, as a substitute, replacing Kazaishvili in the 77th minute. He went on to providing an assist to Mike Havenaar, but it was not enough to prevent a 2–1 loss for Vitesse. On 19 October, Atsu made his first start against SC Heerenveen, which ended in a 3–2 win for Vitesse. On 9 November, he converted a penalty for his first goal with Vitesse, against FC Utrecht; the match ended in a 3–1 win for Vitesse.

In total, Atsu played 30 games and scored 5 goals for the Dutch side as they finished 6th in the league and qualified to the play offs.
