'Deadly' striker John Antwi makes 'unquestionable' case for Ghana call-up

Egypt-based Ghana striker John Antwi has made an 'unquestionable' case for a call-up into the Black Stars following his tremendous exploits in the North African country.

The 26-year-old, who plays for Misr Lel-Makkasa, bagged a sensational hat-trick against Enppi on Sunday, to become the top foreign goalscorer in Egyptian football with 63 goals.

The Ghanaian superstar, who is on loan from Egyptian giants Al Ahly, is earning positive reviews for his sublime displays in the North African country.

The former Dreams FC youth player has enjoyed a long and successful club career in Egypt, featuring for Ismaily, Al Ahly and lately Misr Lel-Makkasa.

The performances of the hugely talented striker has been well document after he surpassed the long held record by compatriot Ernest Papa Arko who played for five Egyptian clubs including Zamalek.

Antwi has now scored a combined 32 goals in three seasons for Misr Lel-Makkasa to add up to the 28 goals he scored when he first arrived at Al Ismaily in 2013.

He joined Al Ahly two years later but managed only three goals.

But his move to Misr Lel-Makkasa has been the defining moment of his blistering career where he has notched by goals for fun.

He is yet to make his full competitive international debut for Ghana but appears it will happen sooner rather than later.

Indubitably , his goal scoring prowess has catapulted him to the limelight once again, and will leave Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah with little choice to hand a call-up into the Ghana national team.

With iconic Asamoah Gyan fading gradually, Crystal Palace man Jordan Ayew has not been reliable as expected despite scoring a brace on his return to the team in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Ethiopia last week.

At just 26, John Antwi is largely seen as one of the prospect for the future, with his superlative displays making a case for his call-up much easier.

Antwi has simply been phenomenal in the Egyptian football, which is one of the biggest leagues on the African continent.
