Dembele is becoming a leader

Barcelona were at their best in Budapest on Thursday night, particularly in the first half, where a number of Blaugrana players took part in an attacking onslaught. Antoine Griezmann and Martin Braithwaite have become a prolific partnership, and demonstrated it once more against Ferencvaros, while Jordi Alba and Sergino Dest bombed forward down the flanks to great effect.

However, there was one player in particular who stood out, and that was Ousmane Dembele. The French winger scored one, set up another and created several more good chances for his teammates. In the second half, he should've even had a couple more to his name, one of them on the back of a mazy run.

Dembele finished the match wearing the captain's armband, and he was a real leader on the pitch throughout. He looks physically strong and well, seemingly having put his injury problems behind him.

With each passing game, the Frenchman looks to be gaining the rhythm and confidence he needs to become an undisputed starter for the club. His qualities are not in question, but we've become used to seeing Dembele perform on and off. Wednesday saw a complete performance and Koeman will want to see that regularly.

Dembele's problem has always been a lack of consistency, with excellent moments in some periods of a game, and then disappearing. The game against Ferencvaros was further evidence of his incredible talent, but he needs to build on it and maintain his performance on a regular basis.
