Dutch-born Ghanaian defender Mitch Apau is itching for a call-up into the Black Stars.

The 27-year-old, who plays for Belgian Pro League side Westerlo, wants a crack at the international level.

Apau, born to Ghanaian parent in the Netherlands, has not been able to represent the Dutch at any level.

The right-back has expressed his desire to represent his original country.

“I have followed Ghana for some time now, I watched them at the Cup of Nations and also watched them at the World Cup,” he told Accra-based Kasapa FM.

“It is a great Nations and a good football county with some great players and I will be happy to play for Ghana.

“Although there were attempts at my early years in Holland to play I felt I should represent by real country, I fell more Ghanaian.”

The defender made 23 appearances for Westerlo at the end of the current campaign.
