Ebusua Dwarfs v Legon Cities: Referee pauses game following threats by home fans
The two teams were on the field waiting for match officials

Referee Alpha Adey paused the match between Ebusua Dwarfs and Legon Cities at the Cape Coast stadium after being treated by home fans.

The referee felt unsafe and decided not to continue the match, Legon Cities reported on their official Twitter handle.

The centre referee, his assistants and the match commissioner refused to return to the field for the second half.

Legon Cities took a 1-0 lead to the break and were determined to take the three points to move out of the relegation zone.

The incident is unfortunate, considering both teams observed a minute silence in memory of 126 fans who died exactly 20 years ago at the Accra Sports Stadium during the match between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko.
