Eddie Ansah: Adam Kwarasey is like a young me

Black Stars goalkeepers' trainer Edward Ansah has admitted he is reminded of his younger self by agile Adam Larsen Kwarasey.

Kwarasey, who has emerged as first choice goalkeeper for Ghana, is set for his first major tournament at next year's finals in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

Some football fans in the West African country doubt his credentials for continent's flagship showpiece.

The Norway-born replaces the experienced Richard Kingson who has been left out of the provisional 26-man squad by head coach Goran Stevanovic.

Ansah was between the sticks for Ghana when they lost 11-10 on penalties to Ivory Coast in the final of the 1992 Nations Cup hosted by Senegal.

He believes the 23-year-old is a reliable net minder and will be a big plus for the Black Stars at the finals.

''I see myself in Adam. He does everything like I did in my youthful days. He has great prospects,'' Ansah said.

"Adam is young but very effective, efficient and has good anticipation. Ernest Sowah and Daniel Adjei are equally good."

Kwarasey plays for Norwegian top flight side Stromsgodset.
