Elmina Sharks owner Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom has given a damning verdict on the Ghana Premier League saying the country's top-tier football division 'stinks'.

The politician-cum-conglomerator has been left fuming after the Elmina-based team were handed a raw deal in their match against Hearts of Oak last Sunday in Accra.

Referee Maxwell Kofi Owusu awarded a dubious penalty against Nduom's team for a handball incident and had the player,  Isaac Oduro, sent off before the half-time whistle.

Television replay showed the ball came off Oduro's shoulder.

Hours after the match, the centre man took to Facebook to apology for that impetuous decision but the harm had already been caused.

According to the Today Newspaper, Nduom texted Ghana Football Association president Kurt Okraku about the incident.

''The Ghana Premier League is not only Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak, but the two teams also don’t constitute our league,'' Dr Nduom is quoted by the newspaper.

''Why can't officials be punished for their wrongdoings? They are destroying the beautiful game which must stop.''
