Enrique satisfied as Barcelona held by Villarreal

Barcelona were held 2-2 at Villarreal on Sunday.

Barcelona stretched their incredible unbeaten run to 39 games in all competitions but were forced to settle for a draw.

Ivan Rakitic opened the scoring in scrappy fashion, before Barca were gifted a penalty five minutes before half-time, with Villarreal goalkeeper Andres Asenjo adjudged to have fouled Neymar, when it seemed he had won the ball cleanly.

Neymar converted in audacious fashion as El Madrigal vented their anger at the officials, but the league leaders were pegged back in the second half by Cedric Bakambu and Jeremy Mathieu's own goal.

“It was what we were expecting," he said. “Very tough. Villarreal are very good and their stadium is a tough place to play," said Barca coach Luis Enrique.

“The team behind us lost yesterday, and we chalked up a point," he said. “Any time we can earn more points than the team behind us, that's fantastic."
