Essien expected to play Ghana's Nations Cup qualifier against Swaziland

Much-feared Chelsea and Ghana midfielder Michael Essien is likely to face Swaziland when the two sides lock horns in an AFCON Qualifiers first leg match at Somhlolo Stadium on September 5. The Ghanaian star was conspicuous with his absence during the recent 2010 World Cup that was hosted by South Africa due to injury.

The player recently returned to Chelsea following the injury and is likely to be picked for the ‘Black Stars’ to play in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifiers against the country, Congo Brazzaville and Sudan who have all been pitted in the same group. The return of Essien to the squad could spell more doom for the local lads who are already preparing for the crunch match against the Ghanaians.

His silky skill when in possession of the ball is unmatched and is expected to play a pivotal role in helping his country qualify for the AFCON finals scheduled for Gabon and Equatorial Guinea next year.
