Ghana International Kevin Prince Boateng says he is surprised his brother was dropped from Germany’s squad for the Euro 2020 Championship considering him being one of the best central defenders in his position.

Joachim Low invited two experienced players Thomas Muller and Matts Hummels who had been axed from the team after the 2018 World Cup.

The two players were impressive for  their clubs in the just-ended season and were recalled by the departing manager.

Jerome Boateng also part of the 2014 World Cup-winning squad was excluded from the list despite his impressive and final season with Bundesliga Champions Bayern Munich.

The AC Monza midfielder stated maybe a problem with the manager Joachim Low could have resulted to him left out of the squad.

“He must have thought something, but obviously it's a surprise, considering that Jerome has been the most consistent central defense of the whole season. And for me it was the best. But perhaps Löw trusts others more. And we will see, if things do not go as he imagined, we might think it was a mistake on his part", KP Boateng told Bild.

"Germany is in a complicated situation and Boateng seems to confirm this:" It is difficult to understand if he can do well. Certainly, a problem is a situation with Löw, this pulls off. And in this regard, there are two possibilities: either the team can strengthen itself, or it can become insecure. "A dynamic that Boateng knows well ..

Germany has been placed in the group of death where they face defending champions Portugal, France, and Hungry.

The three-time champion begins their Euro 2020 campaign against France on Tuesday 15 June 2021.
