Ex-Ghana defender Shilla Illiasu wants to return to the national team after impressing for Armenia side Impuls Dilijan.

The 29-year-old has rediscovered his form since he joined the Armenian side last year where he featured prominently in the season.

He joined local side Real Tamale United in a bid to resurrect a career that went bad in the last three years due to a nagging knee injury that kept him on the sidelines.

But he believes he has recaptured his old form and wants to return to the Black Stars after a six-year absence.

“It has been a difficult three years for me but thankfully I am back to my best,” Illiasu told Finder Sports

“Playing 90 minutes of football every week is just fantastic.

"Now I am aiming at a return to the Black Stars and I think by the grace of God and hard work I will play for the national team again,"

Illiasu played three games in central defence for Ghana at the 2006 World Cup, dislodging former Bayern Munich man Samuel Osei Kuffuor from that position after the latter’s mistake in the opening game against Italy.

He previously had trails at Arsenal and Blackburn before he signed for Saturn.

He however left the Russian outfit under controversial circumstances which prompted him to return home.
