Ex-Ghana defender Kuffour laments cash prize for AFCON winner

Ex-Ghana defender Sammy Osei Kuffour has lamented the prize money for winning the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations Cup.

The former Bayern Munich star believes the US$ 2m cash as prize money for the winner is a paltry sum.

He wants the Confederation of African to improve the reward package for the continent's premier championship.

''If you compare the $100m prize money for the winner of the Champions League then the $2m is peanut. So the organizers must do something about it,'' Kuffour said.

Kuffour, who officially ended his career with a testimonial match played in Kumasi in December, has been contracted as a pundit on Africa's biggest Pay TV channel SuperSport.
