Ex-Ghana midfielder Laryea Kingston wants national team coaches to be handed long-term  contracts.

The former Heart of Midlothian star is proposing five years for coaches to be able to have their handwritings on the team and build title-winning sides.

He told Starr Sports: ''They should give coaches some time because sometimes when you are building a team, at least you will need like 3 to 5 years that's when the players will understand your philosophy, what you are bringing on board and other things.

''The first two, three months for you being with the players, you will do a lot of talking but after that they will understand your daily performance when you are performing your training programme weekly, monthly and yearly, they will understand what you want to bring on board.

''So for I think three years would have been good for him and then we monitor how he is faring and within that time we will see the sort of legacy he will bring on board within that period  for the players and the whole country.''
