Exclusive Interview: Rossi hoping to reward fans for patience

Fiorentina forward Giuseppe Rossi talked to ForzaItalianFootball.com about his hopes and aims for the second half of the 2015/16 season and announced his desire to bring joy to his fans.

The 28-year-old was present at the charity event Le Stelle di Natale for the Associazione Tumori Toscana, a trust which helps provide free care to patients suffering from terminal illnesses across the region of Tuscany, prior to Fiorentina’s 2-0 win over Chievo and the striker took time out from his busy schedule to discuss his return from injury.

ForzaItalianFootball.com: How have you been this season since coming back from successive injuries?

Rossi: I’ve been doing well, I’m happy with where I’m at. I have been working very hard and I hope to continue getting better.

FIF: What is your next step, are you aiming for a place in Italy’s national squad for the 2016 European Championship in France?

Rossi: My next step is simply to get a continuation of games and a couple of minutes under my belt. Once I have achieved that then hopefully I can start thinking about getting in the team for Europe, come the end of the season.

FIF: How are you going to prepare now?

Rossi: I’m going back home now to be with some of my friends and family, then I’m going to spend some time with my fan club in New York. I’ll be hosting a tournament for fans of Italian football with them and coaching the Fiorentina fans team on December 22.

FIF: You have an abundance of loyal fans both in Italy and across the globe, how does it feel to be a source of inspiration for these people?

Rossi: It’s honestly great, it is something that means a lot to me and it is a lot of fun to spend time with them.

FIF: Do you have a message for these fans?

My message to them now is to have a happy holidays and hopefully they keep following me, keep supporting me and I hope to bring them a lot of happiness when I’m on the field.

Rossi will now host the Pepito Cup on December 22, an Indoor Soccer tournament where four teams of Serie A fans Fiorentina, Napoli Club NYC, Bologna FC USA and AC Milan Club NYC will compete to win the first cup in Rossi’s name.

The event will take place at the Chelsea Piers Sports Center, New York, Tuesday December 22 from 6:30 to 9:30 PM.

Entrance is free to those who wish to participate and cheer for their team, whilst members of the fan club will be able to meet Rossi in person.
