FA Cup Committee throws away Kotoko’s plea to change Tumu venue for clash with Real 24 Hours FC

Kumasi Asante Kotoko have had their wounds deepened after the FA Cup Committee threw away their plea to change the venue for their FA Cup clash with Real 24 Hours FC.

The Porcupine Warriors wrote to the FA Cup Committee protesting that the venue must be changed because it does not meet the requirements of the Club Licensing Board.

Kotoko argued that the grass-less Tumu Town Park is not fit to host a Premier League club for an FA Cup game but the plea has been turned down.

According to the vice chairman of the FA Cup Committee, Kofi Poku, they referred the matter to the Club Licensing Board for the proper advice since they are responsible for approving or disapproving a field.

He explained that the board adviced that the field meets the appropriate requirement for a lower division side and can host Kotoko for the game.

“When Kotoko made the request for the venue to be changed, we referred it to the Club Licensing Board and they said the venue can host the game,” he told Asempa FM in Accra.

“So Kotoko will have to honour the game or forfeit the points to their opponents,” he added.

The Porcuine Warriors will therefore have to put their managerial and technical challenges behind them and honour the game over the weekend to avoid the wrath of the Ghana FA.
