Orlando Pirates have eased fears over Ghana goalkeeper Fatau Dauda revealing he did not play in the Champions League over the weekend because he was not registered for the competition.

Black Stars fans were alarmed when their first-choice goal-minder was excluded from the South African side's Champions League goalless draw against AC Leopards on Saturday.

The fears were based on the fact that their first choice keeper would be warning the bench while they prepare for crucial World Cup qualifiers.

But it has been revealed that he is not yet registered for the CAF Champions League.

That is because he only joined the team last month when Pirates had already registered their players for the competition.

Pirates currently have two goalkeepers, Senzo Meyiwa and Brighton Mhlongo, registered in the competition, after Moeneeb Josephs’ recent departure from the club.

Dauda must get regular action as club level as there is intense competition for places in the Ghana post with Adam Kwarasey and Daniel Agyei all eyeing the first choice spot.
