FIFA lifts transfer embargo on Lusaka Dynamo after settling Muntari Tagoe debt

The transfer ban imposed by FIFA on Lusaka Dynamo for the non-payment of dues to former goalkeeper Muntari Tagoe has been lifted.

The former Medeama and Asante Kotoko glovesman dragged the Zambia Super League side to FIFA for breach of contract after failing to his entitlement.

The world governing body ordered the club to pay the Ghanaian US$ 48,600 following a FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber judge on 15 April, 2019.

FIFA has lifted the sanction after following a settlement of agreement between Elite and the goalkeeper - who was represented by the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana.

“We refer to the abovementioned matter and in particular acknowledge receipt of the correspondences dated 23 October 2020 from the legal representative from Mohammed Muntari Tagoe about the settlement agreement with the Club Lusaka Dynamos FC, copy of which is enclosed hereto for the parties’ perusals.

"In this context, we take due note from the contents of said letters that the parties entered into a settlement agreement. By signing this settlement agreement, we understand that the parties settled their dispute related to the decision of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee passed on 7 November 2019.

"In view of the foregoing, and in line with the Circular no. 1628 of 9 May 2018, we would like to inform the parties that the present disciplinary proceedings against the club Lusaka Dynamos FC are hereby closed and the transfer ban has been lifted since the parties settled their dispute.”

In April, Lusaka Dynamos were ordered to cough up a total of US$ 48,600 to former goalkeeper Muntari for breach of contract.

In February 2017, Tagoe signed a two-year contract with Lusaka Dynamos but terminated his contract because of unpaid entitlements.

The Zambian side has now received the necessary clearance from FIFA to resume transfer activity.
