Fiorentina have offer rejected for Atalanta star

Atalanta are determined to keep Papu Gomez in Bergamo following an offer from title challengers Fiorentina which was immediately turned down.

The Orobici have already lost one key man in January after Maxi Moralez joined Mexican side Leon and they are not willing to let the 27-year-old also depart the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia following a relatively promising start to the season.

According to Tuttomercatoweb.com, the Viola had made a bid worth €9 million for Gomez which was immediately rejected by Atalanta president Antonio Percassi.

Although La Dea are adamant that the attacking midfielder is going nowhere in January, Fiorentina are reportedly hopeful that they can revive negotiations in the summer at a time when Atalanta will be more open to a transfer.

Gomez has made 19 Serie A appearances, scoring five goals and tallying three assists during the first half of the 2015-16 season.
