First Trust G6 Tournament will help us to prepare for Africa - Ashold's Alhassan Nuhu

Published on: 08 January 2016

AshantiGold midfielder, Alhassan Nuhu says the First Trust G6 Tournament will serve as a good platform for his side ahead of their African Champions League campaign this year.

The “Aboakese Lads” have been drawn in Group B with two former league champions, Asante Kotoko and  Berekum Chelsea at the Essipong Sports Stadium.

Though the Ghana Premier League is yet to kick start, the introduction of the competition will positively help the six participating clubs to fine tune their squad as they await the start of the domestic championship.

But the club to benefit more from the competition is the 2014/15 Ghana Premier League championship AshantiGold as they prepares for their upcoming African Champions League campaign with a clash against Algerian side MO Bajaia.

“The G6 Tournament will help us a lot because the league has not started and our Africa game starts next month. So the competition which we are part of will help us strategize for our upcoming continental game."

“All the other five clubs in the G6 tourney are very good and they will give us the needed opposition in preparing for our Africa games and I really want to thank the organizers because the timing is very good for us,” Nuhu told Ghanasoccernet.com.

The kicked off yesterday with a goalless draw game between AshantiGold and Berekum Chelsea.
