Midfielders Mubarak Wakaso and Alfred Duncan are included in a list of five players who have been excused from Ghana squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying double-header against Zimbabwe.

The others are Brentford winger Tariqe Fosu, Kotoko defender Ismail Ganiyu and Italy-based striker Emmanuel Gyasi.

The quintet were named in Ghana’s provisional 32 man squad for the crucial game by recently re-appointed head coach Milovan Rajevac.

The GFA announced the technical team’s decision to excuse them from the qualifiers but gave no reason.

For Duncan, there were reports last week that he had picked up a knock but on Sunday, he was in action as Fiorentina lost 2-1 to Napoli in Serie A.

Ghana will face Zimbabwe twice in the space of four days. The first match will be played on Saturday in Cape Coast with the return match on Tuesday, October 12 in Harare.
