Former Black Stars coach Kwasi Appiah urges Kotoko to remain focused

Former Black Stars coach Kwasi Appiah said it is important for high-flying Asante Kotoko to remain focused and continue winning games.

Kotoko are the only club with a 100 percent record in the Ghana Premier League this season, winning all four games.

As a result, Kotoko are first on the table with 12 points, three more than second-placed King Faisal, while they are nine points above reigning champions Hearts of Oak.

“For now, they’re doing very well, but they should not be swollen-headed,” Appiah, a former Kotoko player, told reporters on Monday at the unveiling of the NLA partnership deal.

“They need to concentrate and make sure they take it game after game and should never think we’ve won four games, so that’s the end of it.”

“Once complacency sets in, then it will be a problem for the team. And they also know that each team they face will be coming out in full force because now they’re leading the league table, and automatically all the teams will be eyeing them, giving them tough games.

“So, the most important thing is to be focused and play according to the tactical instructions of the coach.”

Kotoko travel to face Karela United in Ayinase this weekend.
