Hearts of Oak's recent performances have come under fire from former player Dan Quaye, who expressed disappointment with what he called the current team's 'abysmal' display.

In an interview with Rainbow Sports, Quaye voiced his concern over what he perceives as a lack of dedication among the current players, comparing it unfavourably to his time with the club.

Quaye asserted that the present players lack the commitment to put in extra effort beyond what the team provides. Drawing a contrast to his era, the retired professional footballer emphasized that they consistently went the extra mile, contributing to the team's success, awards, and reputation.

According to Quaye, the current crop of players is more focused on social media than on training, attributing this shift in priorities to the team's recent struggles. He reminisced about their passion for the game and the sacrifices they made for the team, even in the face of financial challenges.

Recalling his own playing days, Quaye highlighted a different mindset, stating, 'I didn’t care about how much money the management handed me. I cared about the fans, and I knew that if we won and went through the stands, the fans would give us money. The team is for the fans.'

Expressing concern over the decline in player calibre and creative abilities globally, Quaye also pointed to the negative impact of gambling (betting) on football, suggesting that it has contributed to the sport's degradation."
