Former Leicester City and Fulham defender John  Paintsil has distanced himself contesting for the Ghana FA presidency in future.

The 40-year-old has been working in his native country as a board member of Premier League side Legon Cities.

The former Ghana international retired from football in 2016 after an illustrious career for both club and country.

And the former Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach has revealed he has no future plans of working his way to the administrative echelon of Ghana football.

“I have no interest of becoming President for the Ghana Football Association [GFA],” he said.

“For now, I want to focus on help develop players and that is where my interest lies."

The former Fulham righh-back rose through the ranks of the junior national team after playing a role in Ghana’s second-place finish at the 2001 Fifa World Youth Championship in Argentina.

He earned his first call up to the Black Stars same year, enjoying a total of 89 caps, although without a goal.

He last played for the team in 2013 when he made Ghana's squad to the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.

He is widely remembered for running around the pitch with Ghana's flag in hand whenever the Black Stars win a game at the Fifa World Cup in both the 2006 and 2010 editions.
