GFA Prez tasks Medeama SC and AshantiGold to use FirsTrust G6 tournament to sharpen their edges for the CAF club competitions

President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi says League champions AshantiGold and FA Cup winners Medeama must use the G6 tournaments to sharpen their edges for their CAF inter-clubs competitions. 

According to him the FirsTrust G6 championship will positively help the two clubs ahead of their respective CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup competitions.

AshantiGold will be playing in the CAF Champions League after winning 2014/15 Ghana Premier League to end their 19-year league title drought while Medeama will partake in the Confederation Cup after winning the FA Cup.

However, the Miners will be kicking off their campaign in February (2016) against Algerian side MO Bejaia following CAF’s draw last month while Medeama were drawn bye.

And the Ghana Football Association President, Kwesi Nyantakyi has stated that the GHALCA-organized FirsTrust G6 tournament will be a good a preparatory grounds for the two clubs ahead of their impending CAF inter club games.

"The two clubs particularly will have to take advantage of the tournament to put their houses in order to make a good impact in the competitions.

“These are clubs that will be taking part in the CAF inter-club competitions so the G-6 competition is a welcome initiative that will prepare them for their respective CAF assignments,” said the FA President.
