Ghana defender Daniel Amartey has been left out of Leicester City's squad for the 2020/21 Europa League season.

Amartey was omitted from the Europa squad due to an injury he suffered on his second league start of the season in the English Premier League clash against West Ham United.

The Black Stars defender went down injured in the 53rd minute after a challenge. He was seen limping as he walked off the pitch and was replaced by new signing Under Cengiz who made his debut.

The 25-year old is expected to be on the sidelines for a long time which will see him miss all the group stage games in the Europa League due to the injury.

"For Amartey, it’s a case that his hamstring injury is likely to rule him out of all of the group games, which means he will be in the treatment room until at least mid-December. Daniel was pure because of injury,” Rodgers said.

“He’s going to be out for a long period.

“He’s sustained a really bad hamstring injury which is such a shame because he’s worked so hard after a couple of years out, to get game-time and play so well against Manchester City, and then to play against West Ham and to pick up the injury. We were so disappointed for him.

The Foxes begin their Europa League campaign at home to Ukrainian side Zorya Luhansk on Thursday.
