Ghana defender Isaac Vorsah has stepped up his rehabilitation in the gym at Red Bull Salzbrug but will not be fit enough to help the Black Stars against Zambia.

The 25-year-old sustained a serious knee injury in May which was estimated to keep him out of action for six months.

The central defender has however made a quicker than expected progress in his recovery after having surgery to fix his collateral ligament problem.

The Ghana international is now fit enough to start gym work at his Austrian club.

The former TSG Hoffenheim defender will however not recover in time to help Ghana in the crucial 2014 World Cup qualifier against Zambia early next month.

Vorsah has already missed two key games for Ghana – the qualifiers against Sudan and Lesotho which the Black Stars won impressively.

The defender is now expected to start field training early next month – meaning he should be back in full action for his club by October – making him available for Ghana at the playoff stage of the qualifiers if the Black Stars progress.
