Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi expects the Black Maidens to win the best Womenââ¬â¢s Team at Thursdayââ¬â¢s GLO-Caf award.
The countryââ¬â¢s female Under-17 team surprised the world when they clinched bronze at the 2012 FIFA Under-17 World Womenââ¬â¢s Championship held in Azerbaijan.
The Ghanaian put up a sterling performance at the world showpiece where they beat former champions Germany in the third-place play-off match to win bronze.
The team must fend of competition from African Womenââ¬â¢s Champions Equitorial Guinea and Nigeria.
But the countryââ¬â¢s football chief has no doubt in his mind the Maidens will win the award.
ââ¬ÅThe Maidens will be robbing shoulders with African champions Equitorial Guinea but considering what the Maidens has achieved in Azerbaijan, I believe we stand tall,â⬠Nyantakyi said
The GLO-CAF awards will be held at the State Banquet Hall in Accra where the continentââ¬â¢s finest footballer will be crowned.
Ivorian duo Didier Drogba and Yaya Toure are the front runners for the individual accolade.
