Ghana Football Association President Kwesi Nyantakyi led a delegation to visit referee Patrick Kyeremateng who was physically assaulted following a Glo Premier League match this week.

Nyantakyi was accompanied by Professional League Board (PLB) chairman Welbeck Abra-Appiah as they visited the seriously injured match official at home in Accra on Thursday.

Furious about Dwarfs' 1-0 loss at home to Aduana, fans went on a rampage, in which Kyeremateng was seriously injured.

He suffered injuries to the head, his back and other parts of the body which has affected his mobility.

Speaking after visiting the referee at home, Nyantakyi said Kyeremateng "is talking, he is responding and he is receiving excellent care".

The GFA boss said the attack was "really shocking and horrific".

He said the authorities are working to establish the identities of the hooligans and when it would be possible to prosecute them as other officials including security and media personnel were also attacked in the rampage.

Nyantakyi said: "I cannot begin to imagine what a dreadful ordeal it was for everyone involved and we want to assure them that we will bring the culprits to book."
