Ghana FA insists coach Appiah won't be sacked

Kwesi Appiah won’t be sacked after the Black Stars 2014 World Cup qualifier against Sudan, the FA has reiterated its stance.

A Ghanaian website had claimed officials of the Ghana FA had proposed to the country’s Sports Minister to have the coach dismissed after the game against the Nile Crocodile at the Baba Yara stadium.

The future of the former Asante Kotoko defender has come under the microscope after the West African giants failed to win the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.

Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi has insisted coach Appiah won’t be sacked but that has not washed down on the growing speculations surrounding the future of the coach.

But the FA’s Communications Director Ibrahim Sannie Daara insists there are no plans to dispense with the services of the ex-international.

“There is no iota of truth in the rumours. I don’t know where these reports are coming from,” Daara told Accra-based Peace FM

“The minister came on a familiarization tour and lots of issues were discussed but not the future of the coach.

“The FA is focused on the game against Sudan and that’s where the priority is. It’s never true that we have plans to sack the coach.

“We’re preparing for the crucial game against Sudan and so we shouldn't allow such reports to distract us.”

The Black Stars lie second in the group after Zambia were awarded three points from the boardroom, leaving the Ghanaians struggling to qualify to the tournament in Brazil next year.
