Ghana FA seals deal to replay botched Nigeria friendly

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has finally sealed the deal to rearrange their Nigeria friendly with Nigeria in London in October.

The game was scheduled to be played at Vicarage Road two weeks ago but was called off at the last minute because of the riots in London.

Both sides agreed to play the friendly at another date but the deal has now been signed by the Ghanaian authorities for the game to take place on 11 October.

"The Ghana Football Association has confirmed October 11, 2011 as the new match date for Ghana's called off international friendly with Nigeria," the GFA said in a statement.

The agreement also protects all those who purchased tickets for the botched friendly as they can attend the game with the same ticket.

Ghana-Nigeria matches are hugely anticipated because of the rivalry between the two countries.

Matches like this are also seen as a good family outing for Ghanaians and Nigerian living in the UK and elsewhere in Europe.

There was an exciting atmosphere where the two sides clashed in a friendly four years ago which ended 4-1 in favour of the Black Stars.

Nigerians living in the UK are keen for the Super Eagles to avenge the defeat which had given the Ghanaian the bragging rights over the past four years.

The supporters of the Black Stars want to continue their dominance over the Nigerians.
