The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is set to sanction Ghana Premier League side Asante Kotoko for failing to meet the deadline to constitute the Executive Board per the Club Licensing regulations.

Asante Kotoko failed to meet the deadline on April 1 to constitute the Board and according to the Vice-Chairman of the Club Licensing Board Lawyer Ankomah Mensah, the laws will be applied without fear or favor.

Kotoko failed to meet the deadline which was set on April 1 and submitted a letter to Ghana Football Association for an extension.

The letter was written  by Manhyia Palace on behalf of the club.

Lawyer Ankamah Mensah in an interview on Happy FM hinted despite the letter from Manhyia to request for an extension to constitute the Board, Kotoko has defaulted and they may be sanctioned.

“Any team that does not adhere to the regulations is given a reminder. Later followed by a sanction if they fail to meet the deadline. The regulation specify what must be done.

“From my perspective we see all clubs with the same status or as equals. we don’t discriminate. If a certain condition is given and they fail to fulfill we see it as a default. We don’t look at who it is or it is not”, he ended.
