Ghana goalkeeper Fatau Dauda has claimed he could have landed a deal at Chelsea after the 2014 FIFA World Cup if he was an outfield player.
The 30-year-old claims his position as a goalkeeper has limited his potentials in the game after struggling at club level for the past three seasons.
Dauda impressed for Ghana at 2014 World Cup in Brazil and pulled a string of brilliant saves that drew him international attention.
But he returned to South African side Orlando Pirates to warm the bench and eventually return to Ghana to link up with AshantiGold again.
Dauda believes Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho could have signed him after his performance in Brazil if he was any other player than a custodian.
"People should analyze goalkeepers very well. How many times do you see goalkeepers being changed in a game? After the World Cup how many goalkeepers were signed?" Fatau Dauda stated during an interview with Accra-based Hot FM.
"Even outfield players who didn’t kick a ball in the competition managed to secure good deals, after the tournament. I would have been a Chelsea player if I was an outfield player," he added.
Dauda, Ghana's second choice goalkeeper won the Ghana Premier League title with AshantiGold upon his return to the local front.
