Ghana and Chelsea legend Michael Essien is happy to be part of the Soccer Aid World XI  Unicef UK project.

The Soccer Aid World XI for Unicef UK is a project that is to help raise vital funds and help children everywhere grow up happy, healthy and able to play.

Essien in a post on social media stated he is happy to be chosen as an icon alongside some legends such as Ryan Giggs, Claude Makelele, Roberto Carlos, Andriy Shevchenko and Sebastien Veron.

"It's amazing to be an ICON in @SoccerAid World XI FC, go and play with us in @easportsfifa now! A fantastic initiative to be a part of with @unicef_uk ??", the former Real Madrid defender also called on games to play with the SoccerAid World XI FC on FIFA 20.

The Soccer Aid World XI FC game versus England was supposed to take place this June at Old Trafford but had to be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Organizers have rescheduled the game to be played later in December.
