Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris is set to make his first appearance for Ghana in nearly one year as he has been cleared by doctors of French side Lorient to play in Black Stars' friendly against Canada next week, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The 24-year-old suffered injury while playing for Lorient over the weekend and was feared to be on the verge of missing the match in Washington on Tuesday.

The much-awaited return of the attacker to the national team was expected to be put on hold as the French club were seeking to treat the attacker for the injury suffered on Sunday.

Doctors of the French club have now cleared him to travel to Washington to join the Black Stars ahead of the match against Canada.

He is expected to join the Black Stars camp in Washington latest by Friday.

Waris was taken off in Lorient’s important 3-2 victory over Bordeaux on Sunday with what was suspected to be a thigh injury which needs immediate attention.

He was replaced by Romain Philippoteaux in the 74th minute of the game which left doctors of the club seeking for a quick treatment.

He has not played for the Black Stars since he was ruled out of the Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea in January.

Waris is in a great form after scoring three goal in the season so far in the French top-flight.
