The French Football Federation have slapped Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris with a two-match ban for his furious tackle on a Guingamp player during a French Ligue 1 game on Sunday.

The 24-year-old was sent off in the 43rd minute after his bad-tempered challenge on Guingamp striker Younousse Sankhare and angrily walked off a  Lorient technical team member who was trying to calm him down at the touchline.

It is yet to be established what lead to the angry reaction from the 2014 FIFA World Cup Ghana striker as he has yet to publicly comment on the incident.

But the French Football Federation have slapped him with a two-match ban as per the rules of the Ligue 1 regulatory body.

This means Waris sit out of Lorient's upcoming Ligue 1 clashes with Troyes and Paris Saint-Germain.
