Spartak Moscow boss Valeri Karpin has welcome Black Stars striker Abdul Majeed Waris back in his squad to face Mordovia Saransk in the Russia Premier League after recovering from illness.

The 21-year-old missed the 2-0 win over Anzhi last Sunday due to illness but returned to full scale training on Tuesday and has been named in the final 21-man for the crucial game against relegation-trapped Saransk on Friday afternoon.

The former BK Hacken hit-man is assigned to an unorthodox right wing role, making six league appearances.

The return of Waris will be crucial for the capital club who are chasing for a Uefa Champions League ticket.

Spartak, fourth, are three points behind third-placed Anzhi and ten points behind Zenith (2nd).
