Ghana vs Uganda referee sanctioned by CAF

Daniel Bennett has officiated one of the most crucial games in the qualifications to the world cup this year, and maybe the most controversial decisions have been taken by him.

The South African referee has disallowed a correct goal without any clear reasons, making Ghana lose precious points on the road to the world cup in Russia.

The referee has been dropped from the list of CAF officials for the next round Champions League matches. This decision is reportedly as a result of his poor performance in last Saturday's match.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) lodged a protest with FIFA to sanction the referee and his assistants and also allow for a replay of the match. Referee Bennett was later reported that have admitted to a CAF executive that he had erred during the match and was 'terribly embarrassed' by his decisions.

Bennett was originally scheduled to be the centre man for the second-leg semifinal clash between Egypt's Nadi Al Ahly and Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia at the Borg el Aram Stadium in Alexandria on October 22, but reports suggest he has been replaced with fellow South African referee Vitor Gomes for the crunch tie
