Ghana’s U-17 female team is expected to travel to Germany on September 4 to step up preparations towards the World Cup in Azerbaijan.

The Black Maidens were impressive during qualification and must now replicate this good form at the World stage.

The team has however had major challenges in arranging a pre-tournament training tour ahead of the finals.

But the chairman of the Black Maidens Management Committee Augustine Asante says the team’s tour of Germany has now been confirmed.

He also revealed a friendly game with the French national team has been arranged to put the girls in good shape for the tournament.

“We will be leaving for Germany on the 4th (September),” Augustine disclosed to Accra-based Radio XYZ.

“We were supposed to leave today but we had some problems with the acquisition of players so we had to postpone it.

“It will affect us but we have to make do with what we have.

“We have made arrangements with Puma who will arrange some friendly matches for us in Germany.

“We will travel to France to play the U-17 national team before we leave for Azerbaijan where we will engage some of the teams there in friendly games.”

Ghana has been drawn in quite a difficult group alongside Uruguay, China and Germany but Asante insists the team is determined to redeem the nation’s image at a Women’s World Cup following the Black Princesses’ first round exit in Germany.

“Exactly, we have monitored what happened to the Princesses but I hope we will do much better,” he added.
