Talented Ghana youth defender Clinton Antwi has joined Danish second tier side Esbjerg FB for the rest of the season.

The 20-year-old left back moves loan from top-flight Danish side Nordsjælland to the 1st division club Esbjerg in the chase of regulalr palying time.

Antwi joined Nordsjælland from the Ghanaian academy Right to Dream almost three years ago and after a season on the U19 team established himself in the Superliga squad.

However, this season there has not been much playing time for Antwi at Nordsjælland so the player and the club's management agreed for him to move to Esbjerg for him to continue his development.

"I need playing time in relation to my development, and therefore I am happy with the opportunity I now get in Esbjerg," Antwi said on Wednesday when he sealed the move.

"I look forward to the challenge and my clear ambition is to fight for a place on the team and do my part so that the club can return to the Superliga. I believe this is the right thing for me."

Antwi has played 22 matches for Nordsjaelland since his move from Ghana and the club's sporting director Jan Laursen says they still hold the believe of strong things for the left-back in future.

"We still have a strong belief in Clinton, but we agree that he needs more fighting time on the field to continue his development, fulfill his potential and come back even stronger," Laursen said.

"He gets good opportunities for that in Esbjerg, and we know he will be in good hands with our former coach Ólafur Kristjánsson.

"Clinton is a sympathetic young man with a big heart both on and off the field, and at the same time he has a very high work ethic and always acts professionally in any context. We look forward to following him in Esbjerg."

Antwi will return to Nordsjaelland at the end of the season.
