Ghanaian midfielder Alhassan Wakaso continued his fine form in the Portuguese league with a solid display to help Rio Ave win 2-0 against Vitoria Guimaraes on Monday night.

Goals from impressive forward Helder Tiago gave Ave a lead before Cape Verde international Heldon Augusto confirmed the victory with a well taken strike in the second half.

24-year-old Alhassan Wakaso picked up a yellow card for his troubles but managed to see out what was a difficult game and an important three points for his side.

The victory now sees Ave move to 5th on the league table and six points behind Sporting Braga.
